College of Veterinary Science Rampura Phul initiated “Clean India Programme” in Commemoration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” on 1st October, 2021. This programme will be celebrated during the month of October and will conclude on 31st October, 2021. Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Dean, COVS Rampura Phul and Dr. Yashwant Singh, Professor and Head, Livestock Farm Complex launched the Clean India Programme by planting a tree in the college premises. While interacting , Dr. Chatli congratulated the NSS Volunteers of the college for initiating a drive which will not only clean the surroundings but will also impart awareness to the residents of the town thereby ensuring their involvement in global fight against single use plastic. He further added that a month long Clean India Programme is the real tribute to the Father of Nation on his 152nd birthday.
Dr. Yashwant Singh persuaded the students to learn about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and various diseases that are caused due to poor hygienic conditions and to spread awareness among the masses. Dr. Anavil Bhardwaz, NSS Programme Officer and Clean India Programme Coordinator, informed about the various activities that will be undertaken during the month. While elaborating the programme schedule, he told the press that students from the college will start by cleaning the college, hostels and surroundings. A plantation drive will be started in the next phase and around 200 plants will be planted in the college premises. Around 160 volunteers from the college will begin an awareness drive to discourage single use plastic starting from the neighborhood, extending to the market by covering most of the residential areas of the town.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU lauded the students for volunteering in the Clean India Programme and wished them all the luck for making this drive a success.
