Dr. Narinder Singh Sharma, Professor of Veterinary Microbiology retired from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences
University, Ludhiana on attaining the age of superannuation. A farewell function was arranged by the university Teachers' Association in his honour. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the university presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice chancellor appreciated the services of Dr. Sharma. Earlier, Dr. A K Arora, Controller of Examinations highlighted the academic, research, and administrative achievements of Dr. Sharma. Dr. Paviter Kaur Assoc. Prof. shared the experiences of personal and professional journey with Dr. Sharma.
Dr. Sharma is admired among his students, friends and colleagues. He obtained his BVSc & AH, MVSc and Ph.D degrees from PAU. He joined the university services as Assistant Professor in 1988 and gradually advanced up to become Head of Department and later as Controller of Examinations. He also discharged the duties of Public Information Officer, University Librarian and the Head of Department of Livestock Products Technology. Dr. Sharma during the service period spanning more than 32 years, guided 16 MVSc and 2 Ph.D. students in the field of Veterinary Microbiology. He published 107 research papers in various journals of national and international repute. Under his tenure as HoD, the department earned nine extra mural research projects funded by different national and international agencies. Dr. Sharma is recipient of several awards and fellowships.
Dr. Simranpreet Kaur proposed the vote of thanks to the august gathering. Faculty members extended their warm wishes on his retirement.
