Vet Varsity surgeon bags Young Scientist Award

The faculty and students of Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana  participated in the National level canine conference “Indian VETexpo-2021” organized by Paws Learning and Research Council (PLRC) India. Dr. T.M. Rajasekaran, M.V.Sc. Scholar of Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, GADVASU presented a research paper on “Surgical Management of Pigmentary Keratitis in Pugs” authored by Drs. T M Rajasekaran, S K Mahajan and N Umeshwori Devi and won the “Young Scientist Award”. Dr. Jitender Mohindroo was invited for expert lecture on “Radiographic interpretation of Bones, Joints and Vertebral column in small animals”.  The conference was organized under the banner of Self Sufficient India in association with Pet Animal Welfare Society, New Delhi and Association for Veterinary Dermatology, India.

Around 250 Veterinarians including Scientists and Post graduate students from all over the country attended the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Hansraj Khanna, Joint Commissioner of Animal Husbandry, Government of India and Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG (Animal Health), ICAR.

Dr. Navdeep Singh, Professor cum Head of the department congratulated the student. He said that the main purpose of the event was to make India self-sufficient in Veterinary field. He further stated that Pigmentary Keratitis is an emerging problem in pugs and this study will help in finding a solution to this problem. Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science congratulated the award winner and Dr. Mohindroo for this achievement. He also praised the teachers of department who guided Dr. Rajasekaran.
