Vet Varsity organizes training program on ‘Skill development in viral disease diagnosis and prophylaxis’

The College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has started one

week online training program on ‘Skill development in viral disease diagnosis and prophylaxis’. Dr Dipak Deka, Sr. Scientist and Organising Secretary of the training informed that this training has been organized as a part of the research project ‘Molecular characterization of canine distemper virus field isolates for selection of suitable vaccine candidate(s)’ under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

Coordinators of the Department of Biotechnology -Canine Research Centre Networks program at GADVASU Dr. JPS Gill, Director Research and Dr SK Uppal, Dean, Post Graduate Studies informed that this training is a part of series of trainings being conducted to fulfil the mandate of human resource development under this program. Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology,in his inaugural lecture stressed that the research on new generation diagnostics and vaccines are the need of the hour for human as well as animal health. The training program is also being live streamed through Facebook page of College of Animal Biotechnology, GADVASU, Ludhiana.

Dr Deka revealed that a total of 90 participants are participating rom 21 states. They are from 31 different colleges/institutes including 2 national institutes. In the first day of training emeritus professors and experts delivered their valuable presentations. Prof. M. P.Yadav, former Director of IVRI & Ex- Vice Chancellor, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut delivered the first presentation on “Approaches in animal disease diagnosis” followed by Prof. P. K. Uppal, former Advisor of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Punjab, Director, National Research Centre on Equines , Hisar on “Vaccinology: Past, present and future”. Dr. Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Govt. of India, elaborated on “Importance of quality control in animal vaccines”. In this 7 days training course a total of 28 lectures/presentation will be delivered by renowned experts from India and abroad in the recent advances in disease diagnosis, new generation diagnostics and advances in the vaccine development.
