Vet Varsity organizes sensitization programme on “Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme”

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) in support with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Gol organized a Webinar on “Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises" (PMFME) Scheme for its promotion & Publicity. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education, GADVASU revealed that Ministry has earmarked 45 universities across the country to organize such seminars and GADVASU is one of them. He further told that this webinar was attended by nearly 100 persons from the Punjab and adjoining states, comprising of faculties of various colleges of GADVASU, KVKs, Regional Research and Training Centers and progressive farmers.

Rajnish Tuli, General Manager (Food Processing) Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, Punjab was the key speaker. He provided detailed information that how this scheme can be beneficial for individuals, groups and for institutes. He informed that each district of the state has been assigned an exclusive product to be promoted for marketing and diversification. However this product will get the priority but other products can also be promoted under this scheme. We will prefer predetermined product for the concerned district but scheme is open for all products. He further shared all the steps involved in preparation of detailed project report for approval under the PMFSE Scheme.

Sanjeev Kumar, District Development Manager, NABARD, Ludhiana also explained the role of NABARD in promoting various schemes through financial inclusion. He gave detailed information about Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) and Cluster Based Business Organization (CBBO).

Dr. Manish Chatli, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, Bathinda also highlighted the salient features of this scheme in context to livestock sector.

Dr. R.K.Sharma Prof. Cum Head, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education coordinated the Webinar and question-answer session. Dr. Sharma proposed the vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants.
