Experts from 18 states participated in National Webinar at Vet Varsity on World Egg day

On the occasion of World Egg Day, Department of Livestock Products Technology,(LPT) Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal

Sciences, University, Ludhiana organized National Webinar on theme ‘Eggcellent Ways to Promote Health’ under the aegis of ICAR- Institutional Development Plan of National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP). There was an overwhelming response for this event and approximately 400 participants registered out of which 250 participants were finally selected. Dr Narinder Singh Sharma, Head of the department and Chairman of the webinar highlighted importance of World Egg Day. He informed that egg is an integral part of diet that supplies high quality protein. Two expert lectures were delivered and there were lot of queries by participants pointing a great interest of audience for the topics of presentation. Dr Nitin Mehta, Assistant Professor, LPT presented a link between economic development and malnutrition in India. He highlighted role of animal protein, particularly eggs as a potential candidate for tackling menace of undernutrition. Dr Ganesh Kumar Saini, Head, International business, Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. Delivered his talk on' Global prospects of egg industry and future opportunities'. He mentioned about recent developments around the globe and use of Artificial Intelligence in Egg production and processing. He suggested ways to boost entrepreneurship in this sector.

Dr Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education and Principal Investigator of the project emphasized that the students should target themselves to turn into an employer rather than being an employee. Dr Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science appreciated the efforts of the department for choosing such topics of interest for students and industry. Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU applauded the efforts of scientists for highlighting such a pertinent issue linked to human health and stressed on the need based research and development with increased participation of industries. Dr Pavan Kumar and Dr Nitin Mehta acted as organizing secretaries and Dr Simranjeet Kaur was the moderator of technical sessions.
