Awareness camp for the pet owners. A national level Quiz on Rabies for Veterinary Undergraduate students was also arranged. The camp was attended by more than 80 pet owners and their pets were vaccinated free of cost by the experts of the university. They were also provided complete information about the welfare and rearing of pets in the coming months of winter. Drs Inderpal and Anavil coordinated the camp. The brochure about different aspects of rabies including diagnosis, vaccination schedule and preventive measures was also released by Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Dean of the college. The brochure was distributed to all the stakeholders. Dr. Chatli informed that “World Rabies Day, was celebrated every year on September 28th, to raise awareness about deadly disease, rabies. He informed that the theme for this year is ‘End Rabies- Collaborate & Vaccinate.
In the On-line national level Quiz competition, total 673 students of B.V.Sc & AH participated belonging to 25 states of India and 47 Veterinary Colleges of India. Top 100 students were provided the e- certificates of appreciation by the organizers. The event was coordinated by Dr Rachna Sharma and Chetna Mahajan.
Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU appreciated the efforts of the faculty and staff. He further asserted that the community participation will strengthen the effectiveness of this Ant-Rabies program.” He further added “Rabies is a vaccine-preventable disease. Safe and effective vaccines for both human and veterinary use are commonly available. The most cost-effective strategy for preventing rabies in people is by eliminating rabies in dogs through vaccination.” He further stressed on the productive research in GADVASU to resolve the problem of this deadly disease.
