Vet Varsity to organize Regional Agriculture & Pashu Palan Mela for North Zone from Sep 21-23

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana will be organizing Regional Agriculture and Pashu Palan Mela for Northern Region on Sept 21-22 & 23, 2019. Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India through its Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare has allocated Northern region mela to GADVASU, Ludhiana. This fair will attract farmers, universities, institutions, private firms, Line and development Departments and other stakeholders from northern states Union Territories of J & K, Ladakh and Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, U.P., UttraKhand, Bihar and Rajasthan.

Important to mention that, it will be a three day Fair and will be held on 21st to 23rd  September, 2019 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday). During the fair, State Agriculture and Veterinary universities, ICAR institutes of North India, will put up exhibition & share all their technologies. Separate industrial exhibitions related to Agriculture, Veterinary, Animal Sciences, Dairying, Poultry, Fisheries, Horticulture and other allied fields will be displayed. Different organizations dealing with production/marketing of animal feed, medicines, vaccines, animal germplasm, animal farm machinery, milk and meat processing machinery, Germplasms seeds, animal housing and other equipment, publishers of farm magazines related to Agriculture and Livestock, banking, financial and insurance firms, institutes providing technical education and skill development will be organized.  Technical sessions will also be held during this fair. Special hands on training on Mastitis testing, Milk adulteration, Pig, Goat vital assessment, Hoof trimming, TMR, Silage etc. will also arranged on 23-09-2019. Farmers can register for these trainings.

Dr H K Verma, Director Extension Education revealed that this is for the first time that GADVASU has been entrusted to organize RAF of the northern region of the country at its Ludhiana campus. Various inputs like Mineral mixture, Uromin lick and feed supplements along with elite animal show, university literature, value added milk, meat & fish products etc. will be available to farmers. The experts of the University will provide on the spot knowhow through question answer session, discussion as well as practical demonstrations regarding upkeep, vaccination and other timely management of animals. He revealed that the exhibition depicting latest interventions in the field of Agriculture &
Animal Husbandry will also be helpful for the unemployed youth and marginal farmers of the state who are especially interested in setting up their own business in livestock sector. The financial institutes like banks, insurance agencies and experts of the University will provide them knowledge.

Vice Chancellor, Dr A S Nanda appreciated efforts of Directorate of Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana for getting the RAF from the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, New Delhi and wished good luck for the successful organization of the mela.
