The College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana conducted Oath-Taking Ceremony of 70 passing out veterinary graduates of Batch 2014. In welcome address, Dr. Sarvpreet Ghuman, Professor and Head, Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, shared the achievements of students who brought laurels to the University in the field of academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. Dr. Prakash Singh Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science administered the Veterinarian’s Oath to the passing out graduates and asked them to ensure veterinary practice in line with the principles of veterinary ethics covered in the oath with the aim of benefit to society. Dr. Brar encouraged students to take part in extra-curricular activities to keep themselves happy and healthy in life besides their duty towards profession. Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Director Research and the Chief Guest awarded degree certificates to the
passing out graduates. He advised the students to keep in touch with their alma mater for recent developments in the profession and for honing their professional skills. Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education and the Guest of Honor emphasized on the role of extension in tackling the issues of farmers. He reminded the students that they are graduating at very challenging time when the government is stressing on doubling the farmer’s income and diversification of farming practices through livestock, dairy and fisheries. Veterinary Alumni Registration System of the College was launched to facilitate alumni in strengthening their roots with parent organization. Alumni play a significant role in different disciplines of Veterinary Science and hence it is important to harness their expertise and potential for overall development of institution. Further, this well-designed alumni system will ensure better communication with alumni and their record will be readily available with the university for possible collaborations. Dr. Bharti Raj Singh and Dr. Varinder Saini, the passing out graduates, expressed their gratitude towards untiring efforts of Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice-chancellor of the University as well as the faculty and staff. They shared their fruitful experiences of five-year stay in the university. Dr. Nanda congratulated the passing out veterinary graduates and wished them all success in their future endeavors.
