More than 100 volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS), faculty and staff of Guru 
Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University gathered at the Athletic Tracks of university campus for a yoga session to commemorate 5th International Yoga Day. It was all about spirit of healthy living and fitness. The one day yoga camp got off to a vigorous start at 6.30 am today with volunteers getting exposed to a blend of yoga asanas including pranayam, surya namaskar and brief lecture on varied subjects related to healthy lifestyle.
Organised by Directorate of Students Welfare of GADVASU the yoga camp with a theme "Yoga for Heart” had participants carried out a special yoga session in campus. Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students’ Welfare, sent a message to the students how Yoga got international recognition with efforts of India. Mrs. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator of GADVASU said that yoga plays a very important role as it gives comfort to the 
mind and body. She informed that special NSS camps are organised during Semester breaks every year where students are enlightened about various activities of National Service Scheme and yoga/healthy living being one of them. She encouraged students to be eco-friendly and to keep their surroundings clean to become better citizens of the country.
Dr. APS Brar, In-charge, Sports Wing GADVASU, conducted the yoga session and motivated students to maintain a pollution-free environment to breath fresh air, not to use plastic bags and plant more and more trees. During the practice session of yoga, Dr. APS Brar, dwelled upon the various life changing techniques of Yoga.
Dr. Sivakumar, NSS Programme Officer, College of Dairy Science and Technology gave a message to save water and spoke about the importance of water since 70 percent of human body is made up of water.
