Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training programe on Dairy farmer/entrepreneur was organized at Village Barsal, (Ludhiana) by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. In this training , 
a total of 11 dairy farmers including one women farmer were trained and all the successful trainees were awarded with certificates issued by Skill India Mission, New Delhi. Dr Rajesh Kasrija, RPL facilitator, informed that GADVASU was awarded a prestigious project of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) project in agriculture sector. RPL refers to an assessment process used to evaluate a person's existing skill sets, knowledge and experience gained either by formal, non-formal or informal learning. It was under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, for providing training to 2000 dairy farmers on job role dairy farmer/ entrepreneur to farmers of the Punjab.
Dr. HK Verma Director of Extension Education GADVASU informed that Vet Varsity is already organizing RPL trainings at GADVASU Ludhiana Campus, Regional Research and Training Centre, Talwara and different Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Veterinary University. In the RPL training, basic information about dairy farming is provided to the trainees which covers various topics viz; breeds and their characteristics, common diseases of dairy animals and their 
management & prevention by adopting proper vaccination and de-worming practices, clean milk production, nutritional interventions and knowledge about various Information and communication tools & their uses in dairy farm management etc. After the training, assessment of trainees by an independent agency is conducted on the third day, in which online evaluation was done by theoretical and practical viva voce examination of the trainees by the assessor deputed by Agriculture Skill Council of India, New Delhi. The successful candidates were awarded with Certificates for this training by online system under the Skill India Mission. Dr S K Kansal, Prof cum Head, Department of Veterinary and animal Husbandry Extension Education told that there is huge scope of dairy farming in India and particularly in Punjab. He encouraged trainees to adopt scientific ways of livestock rearing, which will help them in improving their economic status as well as livelihood security. He further informed that farmers who were interested in this training can get the RPL form, from the Directorate of Extension Education and submit it to the Directorate with relevant documents.
