Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana organized a ten days specialized refresher training for Paravets from Jammu and Kashmir from 18.03.2019 to 29.03.2019. A total of 26 trainees participated in this training program including three female candidates. The training was sponsored under National Livestock Mission by Jammu and Kashmir, Govt. Dr. H.K.Verma, Director Extension Education informed that the training program was designed to provide scientific knowledge on various aspects of Veterinary and Animal Sciences with hands on practice. Separate theory sessions, practical sessions and visits to various clinical and other departments were also arranged. A field visit to the progressive dairy farmer has also undertaken to observe the farmers practices. Further, he added that GADVASU is regularly organizing various trainings, National as well as International workshops for sharing technical information to the veterinarians, field functionaries and paravets.
Dr. R.K. Sharma, coordinator of the training program told that trainees were appraised with the knowledge about recent technologies with respect to feeding, breeding, management and health care etc.
He informed that one of the regional centres of GADVASU, Ludhiana i.e. Regional Research and Training Centre (RRTC), Kaljharani, Bathinda has been organizing refresher training on “Artificial Insemination” since October 2018 for the Veterinary Pharmacists from Himachal Pradesh Govt. University received request from Himachal Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department to train more than 1000 Veterinary Pharmacists from Himachal Pradesh last year. Till date, GADVASU has trained 25 batches of 591 Veterinary Pharmacists including 176 female candidates. Dr. Verma, appreciated the efforts of team of the RRTC Kaljharani for successfully organizing the training program. He said that such type of trainings are very helpful in enhancing the awareness and knowledge level of paravets to perform well at the field level. Dr. Sittal Dev Jindal, Principal, Veterinary Polytechnic & RRTC, Kaljharani informed that the response of the delegates was excellent and they gave rating to these training programs very high in all aspects and thanked the veterinary university.
