KVK, Tarn Taran organized 200 Hours Skill Development Training Programme on ‘AQUACULTURE WORKER’ under Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI)

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, GADVASU, Booh, Tarn Taran organized a Skill Development training programme on ‘Aquaculture Worker’ from 07.01.2019 to 31.01.2019 at KVK centre. Twenty (20) number of trainees participated from different villages of Distt. Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur in the skill development training course. This 200 hours training programme was conducted under Agriculture Skill Council of India sponsored by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana. Theoretical and practical scientific demostrations on various aspects of fish farming was provided in this training for skill & entrepreneurship development to the trainees.

Speaking on the inaugural session of the training programme, Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, interacted with trainees and motivated them to adopt fish farming. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, stressed upon the development of Aquaculture skills of the rural population of district Tarn Taran. Aquaculture worker training helps farmers and rural youth in developing the agricultural entrepreneurship through diversification in livestock farming. Further he also highlighted various facilities developed and provided by GADVASU and KVK.

Course Director, Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch highlighted the course curriculum for Aquaculture worker including fish pond preparation, importance of fish farming and marketing of different value added products prepared from fishes. IMC carp culture, Disease management, water and soil quality parameters analysis, identification of different fresh water fishes, fresh water ornamental fish farming, aquarium fabrication, soil and water probiotics and sanitizers. Hands on training provided to all the participants through learning by doing such as collection of water samples and soil samples from fish pond and instant analysis done by using different field kits. Exposure visits conducted to Amritsar Carp fish Hatchery and Amritsar Fish market, Marhi kamboke fish farm, Harike fish market for practical demonstration.

After successful completion of 200 hours skill development training programme, on 1.02.2019 assessment of trainees was done by a expert team from ASCI, New Delhi. The Assessment consists of Online Theory exam and practical Viva Voice.  

Dr Bhanu Prakash. Ch (Course Director) proposed the vote of thanks at the valedictory function and thanked the trainees, expert team from New Delhi and visiting guests and faculty for their support to make this training programme a great success.
