Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barnala under the aegis of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a one week training programme under RKVY scheme at Village Dhanaula Khurd on “Bee-Keeping, Ornamental Fish Cum Backyard Poultry Farming” under the guidance of Dr. P.S.Tanwar (Associate Director, KVK, Barnala). Dr. Tanwar emphasized on the raring of Backyard Poultry Farming, Pig and goat. In this training programme a total 38 farmer and farm women of schedule cast families were participated. Dr. Tanwar said that farmers belong to SC families are resource poor and having no or small land are and bee-keeping, Ornamental Fish Farming, mushroom production, backyard poultry farming, goat farming and pig farming are most suitable enterprises for schedule cast families and they can earned more income for their livelihood by adopting these enterprises in scientific manner. He also said that KVK will supply 30 day old chicks of RIR breed to each trainee to start the backyard poultry farming. Dr. K.S Matharu Assistant Professor (Plant Protection ) gave detail knowledge on the management of honey bees during different season, production and raring of queen bee. Sh. Khushvir Singh, Assistant Professor ( Fisheries) gave detailed lecture on ornamental fish farming for employment generation. Dr. Harjot Singh Sohi, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) delivered lecture on cultivation practices of oyster and Paddy mushroom. Dr. Anjuly Sharma, Assistant Professor (Home Science) gave lecture on preparation of different types of pickle, sauce, soap and detergent. The village sarpanch Smt. Kamaldeep Kaur appreciated the efforts of KVK, Handiaya (Barnala).
