KVK, Tarn Taran organizes Vocational Training Programme

Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana , Booh, Tarn Taran organized a vocational training programme on ‘Value addition of livestock products’ at village Chabaal. Thirty 30 farmers (25 Female & 05 Male) belonging to village Chabaal of Distt. Tarn Taran participated in the training course. This Vocational training programme was conducted under RKVY-11 scheme. Scientific knowledge on various aspects of value addition of livestock products especially on preparation of egg, meat, milk and fish products was practically demonstrated in this training for skill development and self-entrepreneurship of farm women and farmers for economic development.

Speaking on the inaugural session of the training programme, Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) and Course Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, stressed upon the development of skills of the rural population of district Tarn Taran. Value addition of livestock products training, helps farmers, farm women and rural youth in developing the agricultural entrepreneurship through diversification in processing of livestock products. He also highlighted various facilities developed and provided by GADVASU and KVK.

Course Coordinators, Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon and Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch highlighted the lectures for preparation, importance and marketing of different value added products. The topics covered in the training were value addition of egg, meat, milk and fish products, egg pickle and egg pakoda. Pork pickle and chicken pickle preparation training was provided by Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Rajesh Waghh the experts from department of Livestock Product Technology. Fish pickle, fish cutlets and fish balls preparation was given by the experts from College of fisheries Dr. Ajit Singh and Dr. Surja Narayan Dutta. On the final day of training programme an exposure visit to College of Dairy Science and Technology, Ludhiana for practical demonstration on milk and milk products was conducted by Dr. Siva Kumar and Dr. Venus Bansal. Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, interacted with trainees and motivated them to adopt processing and value addition of livestock products.

Course Coordinators proposed the vote of thanks at the valedictory function and thanked the trainees and visiting guests and faculty for their support to make this training programme success.
