College of Fisheries of Vet Varsity Celebrates Annual Prize Distribution Function

To felicitate the students for their excellence in academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana celebrated Annual Prize Distribution Function. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, graced the function as Chief Guest whereas Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur, former Dean of the College was Guest of Honor. The function was inaugurated with a welcome address by Dr. Meera D. Ansal, Head, Department of Aquaculture, with introduction about the awards to motivate students to participate in extra-curricular activities, besides academic excellence. Students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year B.F.Sc. Program were conferred with ‘Mata Ind Kaur Award’ for academic excellence, introduced Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur in memory of her grandmother for meritorious candidates of the college. Academic brilliance of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year was also recognized with awards initiated by Dr. Asha Dhawan, former Dean of the College. Students were awarded trophies and certificates for their outstanding achievements in sports, NSS and curricular activities.

Dr. Uppal applauded and congratulated the students for their exceptionally outstanding performance in various fields and their enthusiasm for achieving excellence not only in academics but also in other supportive activities. Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur expressed her pleasure in witnessing diversified talent and overall excellence of the students. Sharing her deep sense of belongingness, she extolled the dedication of the administration, faculty, students and the associated staff in transforming the college into a wonderful learning place. Dr. Kulbir Singh Sandhu, Dean, College of Fisheries eulogized the fact that good percentage of students of the college not only participated in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, but also brought laurels in the form of big achievements. The ‘Overall Runner’s Up’ and ‘Overall Music’ trophies were formally handed over to Dr. Sandhu by the DDMC contingent of the College. Students also got an opportunity to listen to an eminent alumnus of the university, Dr. Baljit Singh, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Calgary (Canada) and had a very interactive session on shaping up a career through dedication and passion for converting their academic skills into professions. Dr. Shanthanagouda and Ms. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Fisheries) coordinated the whole function. Dr. Vaneet Inder Kaur extended vote of thanks and a very important message for the students to be passionate, optimistic and healthy to excel in their professional and personal lives.
