Vet Varsity Scientist Shine at International Symposium and conference

The faculty members from the Department of Livestock Products Technology (LPT), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University attended the International Symposium and 8th Conference of Indian Meat Science Association (IMSACON- VIII) held at West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata. Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Professor and Head felicitated for his work in Meat Science & Technology with prestigious Fellowship of Indian Meat Science Association. Dr Manish Kumar Chatli also presented a keynote-cum-lead paper and acted as Co-chairman during technical session. Dr. Om Prakash Malav, Assistant Professor in the Department won the most prestigious Allanasons Young Scientist Award for his significant contribution in the field of Livestock Products Technology. Drs. Manish Kumar Chatli and Om Prakash Malav have also bagged the Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards, respectively. Dr. Dinesh Krofa, PhD student of the department won the competitive K. Dhushyantan IMSA award for the Best PhD Thesis, under the guidance of Dr. Manish K. Chatli. His research work pertains to the extraction of multifunctional bioactive peptides from liver and blood. IMSA also felicitated the organizing committee of International Symposium and 7th conference of IMSA-2016 held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University for their successful organization of the seminar and associated activities. Dr Rajesh V Wagh and his two students also attended and presented the research paper in the symposium. Dr Sanjeev Uppal, Dean Post Graduate Studies congratulated the team and informed that GADVASU has well equipped laboratories and conducting doctoral research of international standards. Dr P.S Brar, Dean College of Veterinary Science said that the applied research is need of the hour and the innovative research technologies developed by LPT will help in waste utilization and employment generation.Dr A.S. Nanda, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU applauded the entire team and mentioned that the university takes pride in having a vibrant department of Livestock Products Technology which not only organizes awareness meetings and capacity building programmes for different stakeholders, but also conducting innovative research in the area of microencapsulation and biodegradable packaging.
