One act plays on different issues of life were showcased in the ongoing 9th youth festival of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. The day was reserved for theatrical events like Mime, Mimicry, Mono Acting, Skit and One Act Plays. Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Smt. Kanwaljit Kaur Nanda, wife of Dr. Amarjit Singh Nanda, Vice-Chancellor was Guest of Honour in the session. One Act Plays showcased the different colors of life and also highlighted miseries of society. Play ‘Sarhaden’ written by Shahid Nadeem highlighted the exploitation of a girl who reached India by some accident but exploited and raped notorious elements. Play ‘Devi’ written by Shaminder Sunny was based on the social evils which effect freedom of a woman. The orthodox conditions of
society hurt her a lot. A touching story of a sold woman through human trafficking was acted on the stage in the play 'Jhnan de Pani' written by Ajmer Aulakh. Play ‘Balde Chinaar’ written by Dr. Sahib Singh showcased the problem of terrorism in Kashmir. The story depicted that how a patriotic but common man is facing the burns of this rigorous problem. Play 'Jadon Main Ik Aurat Hundi Han' written by Pali Bhupinder narrated the massacre and riots during division of India in 1947. Especially it depicted atrocities towards women's. Play 'Jigri' written by Hrishikesh Koli was based on female foeticide. The Play gave a message to society about the importance of girl child.
