Five days vocational training programme at KVK Booh

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a 5 days vocational training programme entitled “Insight different techniques of food processing and packaging". 17 trainees were participated in this training programme.  Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) of KVK delivered a lecture on significance of adopting food processing business as subsidiary occupation. The event was coordinated by Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor (Home Science). Various techniques of packaging foods and vegetables were discussed and demonstrated by Dr. Arshdeep Singh, Assistant Extension Specialist, Department of Food Science and Technology, PAU, Ludhiana. Besides, Dr. Singh also demonstrated Anola processing techniques to the trainees. Drying techniques using solar energy for fruits and vegetables and mixed fruit jam were also demonstrated. An exposure visit was conducted at Food Processing Industry Cum Business Incubation Centre, Regional Station, PAU, Bathinda in order to provide hand-on experience to the participants. Under this exposure, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Food Technology explained various techniques of food processing through highlighting their principles and procedures. She also demonstrated advanced equipments viz. canning assembly of fruits & vegetables used at food assembly processing units. The trainees interacted with established self help groups to discuss their queries regarding marketing of ready products. Trainees also visited different demo units at KVK, Bathinda.
