KVK Tarn Taran efforts to manage rice residue applauded and farmer from distt honored in one day workshop

Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) Zone-I organized a one day workshop on ‘Stakeholders’ Dialogue for Sharing Key Learning’s on Sustainable and Scalable Solutions for Rice Residue Management’ on 15.03.2018 at its Campus, Ludhiana. Dr RS Paroda, Padam Bhusan and former DG, ICAR was chief guest of the programme. Dr Ramesh Yadava, Chairman, Haryana Kisan Ayog, Haryana, Dr BS Dhillon, Vice- Chancellor PAU, Ludhiana, Dr. BS Sidhu, Commissioner Agriculture Govt. of Punjab, Dr ML Jat CIMMYT, Dr Rajbir Singh, Director ICAR- ATARI  Zone-1, Ludhiana were present on this occasion. The discussion on paddy residue management was made by scientists, machinery manufacturers and farmers in this programme. While interacting with scientists some farmers raised their issues related to residue management, other progressive farmers are successfully incorporating residue in the soil following latest technologies. Progressive farmer of Tarn Taran, S. Gurbachan Singh from village Burj Deva Singh also interacted with Chief Guest and other dignitaries. S. Gurbachan Singh said that I am not burning wheat and paddy straw since 8 years and 100% of my wheat is sown by Happy Seeder. He said that soil health is improving day by day and crop yields are also improving. S. Gurbachan Singh also told that while marrying his son, he put one condition with his relatives that if they will not burn paddy straw, only then he will marry his boy with your daughter, which is appreciated by all the dignitaries, farmers and each person in the house. With efforts of KVK Tarn Taran and progressive farmers from the village, about 75% land is being sown by Happy seeder. The ICAR ATARI Zone-1 appreciated efforts of KVK Tarn Taran on rice residue management and honored S. Gurbachan Singh of district Tarn Taran on this occasion. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy director, KVK Tarn Taran received the honor from Dr. RS Paroda and other dignitaries in this event.
