Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Tarn Taran, Punjab organised 7 days vocational training on "Insight different Cost-effective techniques in clothing for self-employment" from 24.11.2017 to 30.11.2017 at Bhikhiwind, District- Tarn Taran. Forty (40) individuals (04 Male & 36 Female) belonging to different villages of Bhikiwind block of Distt. Tarn Taran had participated in the training course. Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director,
KVK, Tarn Taran speaking in inaugural address highlighted the importance of various training programmes organized from time to time by KVK in order to serve the farming community. The main objective of the training was to give push to income generation among poor masses in border areas of the district. Mrs. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon coordinated this training programme and delivered message regarding income generation with effective management of various techniques in clothing. Further, Dr. Prerna Kapila, Assistant Professor, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar demonstrated the drafting and stitching methods for dress designing to the trainees. Dr. Kapila discussed the key point to be taken into consideration while designing an attire with beneficiaries. Mrs. Dhillon emphasized on the different cost-effective techniques to utilize the fabric in order to make it an additional contribution towards their secured livelihood. Furthermore, she also demonstrated various fabric finishing methods such as fabric painting and tie and dye techniques to the beneficiaries. To summarize, Dr. Kumar encouraged the participants to collaborate with KVK, Tarn Taran to get updated knowledge of new techniques in the agriculture and allied sectors. The occasion was concluded by delivering ‘vote of thanks' by Mrs. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon.
