Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mohali of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a one day training cum farmers-scientists interaction programme on propagation of fruit crops at village Bhupnagar under the guidance of Dr. Yashwant Singh (Deputy Director).
Training co-coordinator Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor, Horticulture delivered detailed lecture on the various propagation techniques including sexual and vegetative propagation of fruit crops. He emphasized on techniques of rootstock raising, grafting and budding in mango, guava, citrus etc. He motivated farmers to utilize the present rainy season to plant various fruit trees in their kitchen gardens. Dr. Randhir Singh delivered lecture on various diseases of livestock and remedies about their problems. Mr. Vikas Phulia delivered lecture on ornamental fish farming. Seeds of Brinjal hybrid were also distributed as input to farmers for popularization of vegetable crops in area. Around 25 farmers including farm women took part in this training programme. Progressive farmers Bhupinder Singh, Satpal Singh, Badan Singh, Kulwant Singh also shared their experiences with the participants.
