National Model Training Course on livestock entrepreneurship at Vet Varsity

An eight days national model training course on “Extension Strategies for sustainable Entrepreneurship in Livestock sector” for field officers of animal husbandry sector commenced at Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana today on 1st August 2016.  The course has been sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

20 Veterinary/Dairy Officers/scientists from Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are participating in this course. Dr SNS Randhawa, Director Research, GADVASU was the chief guest on this occasion. In his inaugural address Dr Randhawa revealed that livestock and related entrepreneurship are gaining ground in these days owing to great demand of livestock product. He briefed about the technologies developed by the GADVASU for promoting the scientific livestock entrepreneurship. He highlighted the importance of Veterinary extension in the present scenario in bringing the awareness regarding the scientific practices   to get maximum profit.  Dr. H K Verma, Director Extension Education and Course Director told that this Directorate is actively involved in dissemination of technologies to the end users and these participants has been selected on merit basis to conduct this National model training course. He said that the extension wing of the university regularly organizing training programme on dairy, poultry, piggery, Goatery for the farmers and other on demand training programme. This training is a step further being sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India.  He told that participants will be  apprised with the various entrepreneurship avenue in livestock sector viz dairy, poultry, piggery and goat farming, feed manufacturing, mineral mixture making, value addition of milk and meat, biogas and vermi composting,  marketing, women empowerment through livestock farming etc..

Dr S K Kansal, course coordinator revealed that beside having knowledge on the above said topics, trainee from other States will get an opportunity to up breast themselves regarding GADVASU and its role in livestock sector. Dr Jaswinder Singh technical coordinator told that whole organizing team is striving best to make the training a success and knowledge full for the trainee. Dr Amrit Saini Head, Department of Livestock Production Management and Dr Prahlad Singh, Deputy Director, KVK Taran Taran were also present during this occasion.
