NSS Cell of GADVASU conducts Special Spring Camp

A seven days NSS Special Spring Camp ‘Role of Youth in Environment Cleanliness’ was conducted by NSS  Cell of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University  at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Amritsar.  A total of 110 NSS volunteers participated in special camp with recitation of NSS song, Shabd gayan and pledge for national integration and community development. Dr Syed  Shabih Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU delivered lectures and interactive talk to NSS volunteers on various social issues for healthy environmental surroundings and community development. He told that wetland/watershed/wasteland should be developed for the economic prosperity of farmers but special emphasis needed on the management and development of wetlands because wetlands/watershed help in flood control, groundwater replenishment and storm protection. He told volunteers to put action in cleaning weed infested wetland. Dr. Hassan also distributed book to volunteers published by Ramkrishna Math, Nagpur on Personality Development written by Swami Vivekanandji  for reading and gaining experiences followed by future quiz competition.  During seven days  special NSS camp, a blood donation camp was also conducted with the help of society namely Udham Emergency Blood Donation and Welfare Association. Volunteers donated blood with full spirit and enthusiasm. A swachhta rally was also conducted under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with holding banners and slogans for making local people aware about the cleanliness, safe drinking water, sanitation and maintaining better surrounding environment.  Volunteers performed in cultural activities, quiz, debate and singing competition to break the monotonous task. Dr Hassan stressed for developing positive attitude on social upliftment of village, slum dwellers community, environment preservation, conservation of flora & fauna  and  swachhta awareness including tree plantation works in campus, surrounding areas. He urged volunteers through reciting community welfare pledge alongwith volunteers on social, health, literacy, environment, swachhta, community welfare, blood donation and plantation works.
