The festival of Lohri & Maghi is the symbol of the change of season. It is median of winter & summer. Change of season depicts acceleration of life. These views were expressed by Dr. V.K. Taneja Vice Chancellor GURU ANGAD DEV VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES UNIVERSITY while sharing the greetings of Lohri & Maghi.
Dr. Taneja said that this extreme cold season is very crucial for Livestock health. Absence of proper care and management can reduce productivity as well as affects the health also. He said that poor health of animal affects his annual production. Veterinary University is always on back & call of Livestock farmers in case of any emergency. He suggested that Livestock farmers should discuss about the remedies with experts of University time to time for these seasonal changes. It helps them to make the arrangements up to date. He said that energy rich ration is the main requirement of this season.
Dr. Taneja said that this is appropriate season for the vaccination to save the livestock from Foot & Mouth disease (FMD). So farmers should consult with Veterinary doctor for timely Vaccination of all the diseases.
Dr. Taneja told that it is beginning of the year and it’s my advice to all the farmers that they should keep the record of expenses and production to assess the profit, loss position. He said that it is must to study the reasons of losses and to increase the profitability with proper management. He hoped that with the help of Veterinary University Livestock farmers of state will by more aware in the future. He said that improved livestock health in the entire state will accelerate white & blue revolution in Punjab.
