Dr. Hari Mohan Saxena, Professor cum Head of the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, GADVASU has been elected a Fellow of the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology (ISVIB) for his original research contributions in Immunology. The coveted honor was bestowed upon Dr. Saxena at the International Symposium and Annual Convention of the ISVIB organized at Rajasthan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS), Bikaner. He was felicitated by the chief guest Mr. Virendra Beniwal, Chief Whip of the Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly and Dr. Ajey Gahlot, Vice Chancellor of RAJUVAS. Dr. Saxena is already a Fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India) and a Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation (WIF), UK. It is worth mentioning that 100 out of the 3000 Fellows of WIF from around the world are Nobel Laureates. Dr. Saxena is the first veterinarian in the country to join this elite club of eminent scientists. He is the winner of four gold medals of ISVIB namely, the Young Scientist Award, the Mid – Career Scientist Award, the Scientist Award and the F M Burnet Award, respectively. He is also a winner of the ISHEER Award silver medal, the RR Shukla Award of the Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Research and the Rana Memorial Award of the Association of Microbiologists of India. He was recently awarded the Global Health Travel Award funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to visit USA for presenting a paper at the Keystone Symposium in Seattle. Dr. Saxena is an Editor of the Journal of Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology Research published by the Academic Journals, New York, a Regional Editor of the International Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances published by Maxwell Sciences, UK and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Veterinary Research. He is a Member of the 8 person international Steering Committee of the Science Advisory Board, USA which has more than 50,000 life scientists and physicians from around the world as life members. Dr. Saxena is the Principal Investigator of two research projects funded by the Department of Biotechnology and RKVY scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, respectively. Dr. Saxena has done innovative research work in several areas of Immunology and has filed a patent for his innovative modifications to a diagnostic test to avoid false positive and false negative results in the diagnosis of infectious diseases. He was the Course Incharge of an FAO sponsored Training Course for Nepalese technicians organized jointly by the departments of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology recently.
