Trees are symbol of selfless and dedicated life. They are not providing only oxygen, wood and clean environment but motivate us to serve even an unknown also. So trees are not beneficial for us in biological manner but guide us psychologically too. These views were expressed by Dr. V.K. Taneja, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University while launching a tree plantation drive by GADVASU Green Club. He appreciated this sacred cause of student community. He said that if youth will take the responsibility of this duty we can save our mother earth to become a barren piece of land. Dr. Taneja said that a full age tree like sheesham provides us about Rs. 35 Lacs benefits in shape of wood, environment, oxygen and climate control. He said that as a veterinary doctor he thinks himself more closer to trees than others, because the word JEEVAN is derived from two words, those are JEEV and VAN and if there are trees then existence of animals will be there and a veterinary doctor can prove himself only if the animal creatures exist.
On this occasion about 80 saplings of Neem, Arjun, pulmeria and Jamun were planted. All the Dean, Directors and Officers of the University planted the plants. The president of GADVASU Green Club Harsukhmanpreet Singh Maan said that they will take care of all the trees in their studentship and will hand over the baton to our successors. Some plants were dedicated to the senior students who are about to pass out from the degree programme .He said that they are raising funds for an orphanage home i.e.SGB Children’s Home.
