Dr NK Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University,(GADVASU) Ludhiana, bagged the Best Presentation Award at the 7th Annual Convection of Indian Society for Advancement of Canine Practice(ISACP) held at Bangalore. The paper entitled “Occurrence of parasitic infections in canines of Ludhiana district, Punjab” was authored by Drs NK Singh , Jyoti, M Haque and S S. Rath . Parasitic infections are major constraint in well being and maintenance of companion animals particularly dogs in India. The present study was conducted to assess the status of the parasitic infections in dogs of Ludhiana district, Punjab. A total of 1395 clinical samples (776 blood, 403 faecal and 216 skin scrapings) were examined from dogs presented at Small Animal Veterinary Clinics, GADVASU, Ludhiana for a period of 5 years from 2004-09. Dr SS Sidhu, Former Professor , Dept of Veterinary Clinics, was admitted as the fellow of the Society for his meritorious work done in the field of animal reproduction.. It is important to mention here Dr Sidhu retired from the GADVASU on 31st Dec 2009. Dr HK Verma, Head, Dept of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extensions chaired one of the session during the conference. Dr SK Kansal, Associate professor, also attended the conference and presented a paper.
