Dr P N Bhat, a renowned scientist , Former DDG (Animal Science) ICAR, Chairman, Task Force on Animal Biotechnology, DBT, New Delhi and Chairman, World Buffalo Trust will inaugurate the congress while, Dr V K Taneja, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU will preside over the function. Dr Taneja exhorted the veterinary parasitologists to address emerging challenges in the form of drug resistance, emerging and re-emerging food borne zoonoses, transboundary diseases, food safety, vector control and vaccine development.

Scientific programme encompasses plenary lectures, invited papers, oral and poster presentations in five streams of Host-parasite relationship and Epidemiology; Parasite Immunology, Molecular Biology and Diagnostics; Parasitic Zoonoses and Wildlife Parasitology; Chemotherapy and Control; Veterinary Parasitology Education and Miscellaneous. Recommendations emerging from the deliberations in the congress particularly on the doctrine for the diagnosis, prevention and control of parasites and parasitic diseases will be documented and made available. The event is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science and Technology, Indian Council of Medical Research, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Pharmaceutical companies.
