yan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organized one day training on ‘Silage making to insure the fodder availability in lean period’ at village Nabipur. The main theme of the programme was to create awareness among farmers regarding the importance of silage making for running the dairy business successfully. Thirty farmers from village Nabipur, Jindawala & Ratta Gudda participated in the event. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director informed farmers regarding different varieties of maize that can be cultivated for silage preparation. Method of sowing, fertilizer application, irrigation and weed control practices were also discussed with the farmers. Dr. Kumar also emphasized about the stage of harvesting of crop which plays an important role for making good quality silage. He further elaborate

Dr. Prabhsimran Kaur Gill, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) apprised the farmers about the latest cultivation techniques of maize crop. Farmers of the village actively participated in discussion. Farmers were also told about different facilities for livestock farmers available at KVK.
