Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran in association with Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Ludhiana and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad organized a six days skill training on ‘Organic Input Production for Organic Farming’ for rural youth at KVK. The 15 participants trained for organic input production by the experts. The training was inaugurated by Dr Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (T), KVK, Tarn Taran and he briefed the importance of organic farming in present context. He told that indiscriminate use of agro-chemicals not only deteriorating soil health but also affecting our health as well as environment due to their long residual effect. He also provided insight to different agronomic tools and techniques for nutrient management under organic production system. Dr Anil Kumar, Soil expert at KVK coordinated the training and provided practical exposure on organic input production. The participants were trained on production of compost, vermicompost, waste decomposer, jeevamrit, beejamrit, sanjivan, pachgavya, amritpani, etc. The tips on soil health management through green manuring, biofertilizer, oil cakes and other means such as crop residue incorporation were also provided by the experts. Dr Harmeet Kumar, Deputy Director, PAMETI also interacted with participants on different aspect of organic farming. Dr Anil Kumar thanked PAMETI and MANAGE for providing funds for organizing training programme. He also thanked participants for their cooperation and making this training a success.
