Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran celebrated International Women's Day at its campus under the theme "Women in Leadership in Agriculture: Entrepreneurship, Equity and Empowerment". During this programme, 30 Anganwadi workers, farm women and farmers participated and interacted with panel of experts for opportunities of empowerment in agriculture, livestock and allied sectors. KVK scientist Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon initiated the event by webcasting of inaugural session at Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Ministry of Women and Child Development. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (Training) highlighted the significance of subsidiary occupation in women's financial empowerment. Mrs. Baljit Kaur, Child Development and Project Officer, Patti, Tarn Taran delivered lecture on "Present Scenario of Women's nutritional status in district. Further, a visit to Nutrigarden at KVK Campus has been made for the participants. The participants were encouraged to practice subsidiary occupation viz. value addition of milk and meat products, garment designing and embroidery etc to abet their household income and to strengthen their purchasing power in order to nourish their family adequately. To recapitulate, the event was summed up with a take home message of "Initiate a small scale venture to live a life of worth".
