Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SAS Nagar (Mohali) organized vocational training on “Scientific Poultry Farming” at its Kurali campus. Total sixteen farmers including one lady took part in this training course. Dr. Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production as training coordinator revealed different aspects of poultry farming such as breeds of poultry, construction of poultry housing, method for homemade feed formulation, protection from hot and winter climate, control and vaccination for different diseases were discussed and taught during this training course. Special practical information for poultry farming was delivered to all farmers. Farmers were taught regarding identification of healthy and sick birds, method of feed preparation and practical programme of vaccination of birds. An exposure visit to poultry farm at village Tira was arranged for farmers to know the up and down situations regarding poultry farm. Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Director told that about 5900 million eggs and 50 million broilers are produced in Punjab. In India, Punjab ranks 5th in egg production and 8th in broiler chicken production. He created awareness regarding selection of right site for poultry farm house, contract poultry farming and apart from it, provided information regarding project report for loan process and for different schemes.
