KVK, Tarn Taran organizes vocational training programme on “Scientific Fish farming”

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organised a one-week Vocational Training Programme on “Scientific Fish farming” in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA),  Tarn Taran . A total number of 20 farmers from different villages of the district Tarn Taran attended this training programme. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Booh, welcomed the farmers in this training programme and highlighted the importance of fish farming for resource poor people in rural areas. He also highlighted about the different activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra for socio economic upliftment of the farming community. Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Ch, Assistant Professor, Fisheries and Course Coordinator discussed with trainees about the site selection, design and construction of fish ponds. He, further, demonstrated the scientific techniques of fish rearing through different integrated models. Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Soil Science informed about the importance of soil and water quality parameters for fish farming. Sh. Vikram Sood, Project Director, ATMA discussed about the different schemes related to fish farming by Punjab Government and motivated farmers to adopt agriculture and allied enterprises. Dr. Sachin Onkar Khairnar, Scientist, Aquaculture elaborated about feed and feeding management and induced breeding in IMC culture.  Dr. Naveen Kumar Assistant Professor, Aquatic Environment guided the farmers about importance of Bio-floc technology and he also made the trainees aware regarding different types of diseases and their possible treatments. Bankers were invited on last day of training to deliver lecture on feasible loans and subsidies available for fish farming. While concluding Dr. Balwinder Kumar presented his sincere thanks to experts and all the participants for sparing their valuable time to make this training a  success.
