"One day workshop cum interface of KVK scientist and Veterinary Officers of Department of Animal Husbandry district Tarn Taran" was organized at KVK, Tarn Taran Campus. During this event, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana along with Dr. Harjeet Singh Dhaliwal, Director, PAMETI, PAU Ludhiana visited. Dr. Guravtar Singh, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, Tarn Taran along with 15 Veterinary Officers also participated in the workshop at KVK.
Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (T), welcomed the dignitaries at KVK and addressed all the participants during the
workshop and elaborated the extension activities of KVK Tarn Taran. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar emphasized on strong collaboration between KVK and Veterinary Officers for the dissemination of technologies developed by GADVASU for the benefits of Livestock Farming Community. He motivated the participants regarding online training courses organized on every Tuesday and Thursday by the University on various aspects of Livestock Farming and urged participants to attend these online training programmes. Dr. H.S. Dhaliwal suggested the participants for registering in ICT enable vocational courses organized by PAMETI, Ludhiana to promote digital marketing in the district. He also advised Self Help Groups for the roadside display of the products for earning maximum profits. Dr. Guravtar Singh stressed upon strengthening of processing in livestock sector and talked about quantum jump in this field which should be treated as need of the hour. During discussion, Dr. P.S. Brar and Dr. H.S. Dhaliwal resolved the issues faced by professionals for instance, availability of improved semen of pig, know how's of maintaining balance between quality and quantity in the field of milk production i.e. A1 & A2 proteins and somatic cell count and integrated farming system models of horticulture, poultry, piggery and fish farming etc. An exhibition on various technologies of GADVASU such as mineral mixture, uromin lick and bypass fat was exhibited. Vermicompost produced at KVK, value added food products and literature related to livestock and agriculture published by university and KVK were also displayed.
The visit to different demonstration units of KVK such as Vermicompost unit, Azola unit, Bee keeping, Kitchen gardening, Moringa unit etc. was also conducted by dignitaries. Team also interacted with Self-Help Groups established by KVK and appreciated their work in the field of food processing (livestock) and apparel designing especially in Punjab's attire legacy i.e. Phulkari and Baag along with painting and block printing techniques. The dignitaries also visited RRTC of village Booh and inspected about all the construction work.
They also visited integrated Pig cum Fish farming unit at village Chapri Sahib and high-tech dairy farm at village Kahlawan developed by the farmers. They appreciated the work of KVK and also applauded the farmers for their great work in the field of dairy and IFS. They provided farmers the useful tips for efficient management and marketing of Pig and Fish.
Dr. Balwinder Kumar thanked Dr. Parkash Singh Brar and Dr. Harjeet Singh Dhaliwal for their visit to KVK and requested for full cooperation for the smooth functioning of KVK.
