The Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sahibjada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) have brought laurel to the University by receiving various awards conferred by the Society of Krishi Vigyan during the Second National Conference on ‘Advances in Sustainable Agriculture’ organized during September 26-28, 2020 through web mode. Dr. Vikas Phulia working as Assistant Professor (Fisheries) at KVK, Mohali has been conferred Best KVK Scientist (Fisheries) Award.

Dr. Navjot Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) has been conferred Best KVK Scientist (Agronomy) while Best KVK Scientist (Horticulture) has been awarded to Dr. Munish Sharma. These scientists were felicitated based upon the extension work carried out in their respective disciplines in more than five years of services and the scientific and extension literature published. Elucidating about the conference, Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.) told that the Society of Krishi Vigyan registered at Sasya Shyamala KVK, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Sonarpur, Kolkata is a
prominent society highlighting work being conducted in the area of agricultural extension in the country. Society gives a platform to the agricultural scientists working in various KVKs and agricultural universities to showcase their research work at the National level through conference organized every two years. Deputy Director General (Extension), ICAR, who has been the former President of this society delivered chief guest address in this conference. Vice-Chancellors of various Agricultural Universities also addressed. The society also publishes research findings in a journal named ‘Journal of Krishi Vigyan’ which is approved by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi. Dr. Singh congratulated all the award-winning scientists and emphasized that the recognition of their work is a testimony of the strenuous and sincere efforts taken by them for the welfare of the farming community in the district. Dr. Prakash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education also congratulated the KVK faculty for their achievements and encouraged them to keep striving to achieve mandates of the KVK for the socio-economic upliftment of the farmers.
