Three simultaneous livestock based training programme starts at Vet Varsity

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana started three training programmes today on 15.07.2019. Two Specialized Pig farming trainings are being conducted by Department Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education and Department of Livestock Production Management for one week and three days respectively. The trainees will be provided basic knowledge on different topics like breeding, feeding, day to day care & management, shed design & structures, weather management, vaccination protocols, diseases & their prevention, value addition of pork and economics of pig farm. Another one week training programme on ‘Value addition of milk’ where trainees will learn about various milk products such as Dahi, Lassi, Mozzarella cheese, Flavored milk packaging etc. is being conducted by College of Dairy Science.
Dr H K Verma, Director extension education informed that a total of 77 trainees including 7 women trainees from different districts Punjab and adjoining state are participating in these training programmes. He further told that besides the theoretical lectures practical training is being provided to the trainees with an aim to provide them fundamental information for the enterprise and to run their enterprise on commercial level. There trainings are very much fruitful for the unemployed people as these provide them complete information on all aspects of farming and university is providing the hand holding through constant information in the form of lectures, monthly magazine Vigyanik Pashu Palan, mobile apps and bringing them on one platform through farmer associations.
