Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is going to organize one week training programme on Pig Farming under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) from 01.07.2019. This training programme is being organized for Schedule caste (SC) farmers only. Dr. H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education informed that in this training programme, the trainees will be provided knowledge about various topics like breeds, breeding, management, shed design, weather management, vaccination protocols, diseases & their prevention, value addition of pork, economics of pig farm etc., He further told that besides the theoretical lectures practical training on handling of pig, measuring temperature, signs of healthy animals will also provided to the trainees. After successful completion of this training, the participants will also be provided with start-up kit comprising of literature relevant to pig farming, Mineral mixture for Pigs, subscription of University Punjabi magazine Vigyanak Pashu Palan free of cost under RKVY. This will provide support to farmers after training. For getting admission in this training programme, one has to fill a form, which can be downloaded from University website www.gadvasu.in. It is pertinent to mention here that Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is disseminating knowledge on Pig farming in the form of book and through a mobile app, which can be downloaded from Play store. Also, Veterinary University is providing hand held support to farmers through Progressive pig farmers association.
