KVK, S.A.S. Nagar organized a one day in-service training cum refresher course for veterinary officers (V.O.'s) of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Punjab. Fifteen veterinary officers from districts Roopnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib participated in this refresher course on 'Advances in Dairy Animal Practices'. Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was the chief guest and he informed the participants about the activities being carried out by the University. He also briefed the officers about facilities being provided by
university through KVK. Dr. Randhir Singh, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) delivered welcome note and brief information about contents of refresher course to participants. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, KVK informed participants about working of KVK followed by a detailed lecture on 'Advances in Calf Management'. Dr. Randhir Singh delivered presentation on 'Advances in Dairy Animal Production Diseases' followed by presentation of Dr. R.S. Grewal ,Professor on 'Advances in Dairy Animal Nutrition'. Dr. M. Honparke (Associate Professor) gave presentation on 'Advances in Dairy Reproduction'. During presentations various queries were raised by participants specially regarding line of treatment for calcium cyclers, sub clinical ketosis, anestrous and repeat breeding which were thoroughly responded by respective experts. Participants also shared their field experiences with experts. Experts also informed the field veterinarians about recent advances in diagnosis and treatment of various production and reproductive disorders which they can use at field level without much hassles. Training concluded with certificate distribution.
