Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana conducted one day awareness camp 
on diabetes in village Hari Ke on dated 30th November, 2016. About 50 farmers and farm women participated in this awareness camp. Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) apprised farmers about the types of diabetes, its symptoms and control measures through better food habits. The sugar levels of the farmers and farm women were tested free of cost at this camp. Sugar level was found more than the normal in half of the participants. Sh. Nirmal Singh, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) told participants about the important vegetables such as Bitter gourd (Karela) for sugar patients. Stevia leaves can also be used alternate to sugar for eating purposes. Dr. Balwinder Kumar (Deputy Director, Training) discussed about the status of diabetes in India and world. Dr. Kumar also informed about the different courses and training programme provided by KVK for the farmers, rural youth and farm women. The awareness camp was organized with the help of village sarpanch Sh. Bhupinder Singh.
