Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organized a Members Mobilization and Awareness Programme under Project “Formation of FPO of Dairy farmers at Tarn Taran” funded by NABARD at village Gharyala (Tarn Taran). 45 dairy farmers and farm women from Gharyala and adjoining villages of district Tarn Taran attended this programme. Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Booh, Tarn Taran addressed the participants regarding importance and various steps involved in formulation of successful FPO. Dr. Suresh Kumar, Principal Investigator of Project discussed in detail regarding the role of NABARD in FPOs formation and also enlightened the participants about the importance of POPI (Producer Organization Promoting Institutions). Further, he explained about the formation of Board Members, CEO and CA for FPO formation and also explained about the benefits of FPOs in dairy sector and marketing of dairy produce through FPO. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Home Science explained the nutritive value of milk and informed the trainees about the various value addition techniques to develop curd, cheese, burfi and khoa. Members and farmers assured KVK team for running their FPO in a successful way. Dr. Balwinder Kumar presented his sincere thanks to all the participants for sparing their valuable time to make this programme a success.
