Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran organized three days training entitled "Value Addition of Milk, Meat and their products" at village Balleyanwala, District Tarn Taran. 40 farmers and farm women participated in this event under "ICAR-114- Capacity Building of farmers through training programme on profitable dairy farming and livestock management by KVK Booh, Tarn Taran." Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Associate Director (Training) motivated all the trainees for adopting livestock and value addition of products as their specific occupation. He suggested steps to enhance the milk production of cattle and buffaloes through improved package & practices. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Home Science coordinated this training programme and gave live demonstrations of technologies for flavoured milk, paneer and mango whey drink. Dr. Rekha Chawla from the GADVASU Campus conducted the demonstration of Dhoda barfi and she also delivered a lecture on composite dairy value products. Dr. S. Siva Kumar, Senior Scientist, Dairy Technology demonstrated the milk technology and highlighted the significance of value addition for earning livelihood by small and marginal farmers. Dr. Kumar explained various methods for preparation of beverages like Lassi and Yoghurt as per the recommendations given by GADVASU. Literature on value added dairy products was distributed to the trainees. livestock inputs such as area specific mineral mixture and uromin licks were sold to the farmers. Dr. Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon thanked all the trainees for their participation in this programme.
