Vice-Chancellor of Vet Varsity inaugurates Poultry eggs hatching and Honey processing unit

KVK, Barnala organised a farmer- scientist interaction programme. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Prahalad Singh Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK, Barnala welcomed the Vice- Chancellor, farmers and described activities of KVK. Dr. Inderjeet Singh inaugurated the recently established Poultry eggs hatching unit, Honey processing unit and Automatic Weather Station, in KVK premises. He interacted with farmers and said that farmers may get chicks and process honey from KVK, Barnala. He also added that KVK is an educational hub for the farmers. Farmers may participate in vocational training programmes for self-employment, which will enhance their income and improve their livelihood. Farmers may take remedies from experts related to Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture and Fisheries. He also said that farmers should adopt Integrated Farming System, diversification in agriculture, judicious use of irrigation water and advised for not burning the paddy straw. He suggested that paddy straw can be utilised in livestock feeding after few technical interventions. He said that the milk production of dairy animals is increased by use of paddy straw. The Vice-Chancellor planted a plant in KVK premises to give a message to the farmers to protect the environment. Moringa (Drumstick) plants and vaccinated RIR chicks were distributed to the farmers. He visited village Kaleke (Barnala) at farmer’s field who started Beekeeping, vermicompost and vermiwash units after getting training from KVK, Barnala. Farmer stated that his income was increased with guidance of KVK. He also visited a high-tech Mushroom production unit at Barnala. This unit is started by a well-educated B.Tech pass out youth with motivation of KVK. Dr. Singh appreciated the activities of KVK, Barnala and visited all the demonstration units maintained at KVK.
