Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Taran Taran regularly providing scientific fish farming vocational trainings to the interested district farmers and guiding them from construction of fish ponds to last harvestings. Farmers are trained at the KVK with technical knowhow from site selection, fish species selection, pond construction, feed, disease management, marketing and economics in one week period. In one acre fish pond 5000 number of fish fingerlings of IMC (Catla, Rohu, Mrigala) and exotic carps (Silver carp, Grass carp, Common carp) recommended as ideal stocking density in which average production was 3-4 tonnes/acre/year production can be obtained. Under KVK guidance 20 new fish farms started in the district. KVK is also helped in establishing 4 integrated fish cum pig farming systems. Under Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) 200 hours training programme was conducted to 20 selected farmers on Aquaculture worker, out of which 04 farmers was started fish farming as beginners. Regular soil (N, P, K) and water quality parameters (D.O, pH, Alkalinity, Hardness) of the fish ponds were analyzed at KVK soil and water testing lab for better fish production. Farmers Field School (FFS) was established on integrated fish cum pig farming at village Chapri sahib to provide hands on training to the trainee farmers. Under PMMSY (Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana) government of India financially supporting interested fish farmers to increase the fish production.
Dr. Balwinder kumar, Associate Director, KVK said that from one acre fish farm returns for the tune of 1.5 to 2 lakh for acre/year can be achieved without much effort. Farmers should diversify their farm land from raising crops to rearing livestock and fisheries for better livelihood.

Ch, Assistant Professor (Fisheries) said that fisheries sector will boom in coming future as government of India also enforcing money in fisheries sector so that unemployed rural youth can start fisheries venture at their own level.
