For in-situ and ex-situ management of rice crop residues, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) organized school level programmes in district under the supervision of Associate Director KVK, Dr. Parminder Singh at Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Kurali, Govt. Middle School, Salamatpur and Govt. High School, Naggal Salempur. For effective use of crop residues Poster making, Slogan writing and speech competitions were conducted in these schools and winner students were awarded with mementos & certificates. During these events Dr. Parminder Singh stressed to create awareness among school students regarding ill-effects of stubble burning and effective use of crop residue. Programme Incharge, Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Dr. Vikas Phulia and Dr. Parul Gupta explained about working of machinery used for in-situ management of crop residues, to prepare decorative articles from rice residue, compost making, use in horticulture etc. School Principals, Mr. Hari Singh, Mrs. Ranjit Kaur & Mrs. Shikha Sharma thanked KVK staff for conducting such programme and motivating their students. They appealed to conduct these programmes in future also.
