Krishi Vigyan Kendra,SAS Nagar (Mohali) organized one day programme on Scientist-Dairy Farmers Interaction under crop residue management (CRM) at Chunni Kalan, Mohali. More than 40 dairy farmers took part in this programme. Dr. Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production as coordinator talked about prevalence of mastitis in dairy animals particularly high yielders. He highlighted predisposing factors which enhance the mastitis menace and shared the scientific management and tips for preventing and control of the mastitis in dairy animals which result in enhancing the udder health as well as clean milk production. Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Director cautioned the dairy farmers about coming summer season and its allied effects on dairy animals. Besides proper management he advised the farmers to change the feed composition to ameliorate the effects of heat stress. As the ambient temperature is rising, the animals have started reducing the feed intake which is reflecting in decreased milk production. He discussed various feed additives like yeast, vitamins and bypass fat to include in the ration. He advised the farmers not to ignore the quality of water. He also emphasized to make pellet cattle feed , to get better performance. KVK also put up its stall displaying various extension activities. Mineral mixture, uromin licks and bypass fat were also distributed to the dairy farmers.
