KVK, Mohali conducts training on Nutritional Deficiencies in Dairy Animals

January 27 Expiring at: February 26

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SAS Nagar (Mohali) organized training programme on “Nutritional Deficiency in Dairy Animals” under RKVY-12 scheme for SC/ST farmers at village Dulwan-Khadri. Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) addressed the trainees to rear their animal on scientific lines. For scientific dairy farming at house level, it is necessary to overcome the nutritional deficiencies such as energy, protein, minerals and vital vitamins in dairy animals by incorporating nutrients in feed. Due to leaching, soil is deficient in minerals and the produce (fodder, forage and grains) of field resulted in minerals deficiency. Such nutrients deficient feed and fodder affects the production performance of dairy animals and also humans. It is advised to all dairy farmers to adopt balanced ration for dairy animals which maximize the profit from per unit animal. He also briefed trainees regarding various facilities provided by K.V.K and GADVASU, Ludhiana for the farmers. Dr Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor, Livestock Production, Training Coordinator guided the farmers for feed formulation by incorporating the feed ingredients available at their premises. Farmers should formulate feed for dairy animals as per the standard requirements of animals by consulting the dairy experts and veterinary doctor. The importance and role of mineral mixture in dairy animals was discussed with the farmers. Feed supplements of GADVASU like mineral mixture, uromin licks and nutrition calendars were distributed free of cost among the trainee farmers. All participants thanked KVK faculty for conducting such an excellent and interactive training programme.
