Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a training programme on Poultry Farming. This was the second offline programme organized by the University under SOP of Covid-19. It was of two week duration. Due to Covid protocol only ten trainees were admitted to this programme. It was coordinated by Drs. G K Mavi and K S Sandhu of the department. All the basic knowledge that is needed for starting a new venture in poultry farming was provided to the trainees through theoretical lectures as well as practical classes. Whole of the training programme revolved around poultry breeds, feeding management, shed design, vaccination protocols, disease prevention protocols and economics along with value addition meat and eggs. Special emphasis was given on postmortem of dead birds to identify nutritional and infectious diseases.
University usually organizes only two training programmes on poultry farming during whole of the year. Because of restrictions on the number of trainees per batch, it was decided to organize at least six such training programmes in the current academic year. All the interested farmers are requested to apply for these training programmes offline. The application form is available on university’s website www.gadvasu.in.
