Ludhiana organized two week training programme on Poultry Farming . This was the first training course organized by the university post-Covid in which trainees were present physically. Dr P S Brar, Director Extension Education informed that the number of trainees was limited to ten only because of constraints imposed due to current epidemic. All the trainees were from Ludhiana district . The farmers were trained in ideal management practices including feeding, shelter and health management. They were provided valuable inputs about value addition of meat and egg, vaccination protocols, disease prevention and economics of poultry farming etc. Along with theoretical knowledge, they were also given practical training on handling, measuring temperature, signs of healthy birds and beak trimming. The trainees were provided technical literature. They were encouraged to subscribe monthly magazine “Vigiyanak Pashu Palan”.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma, course director of this training course informed that a large number of farmers of the state are showing great interest in getting poultry training from GADVASU. He also informed that all the applicants will be given training in coming month. Veterinary University is also providing hand held support to poultry farmers through Progressive Poultry Farmers Association. Dr Kulvinder Singh Sandhu and Dr. Gurjot Kaur Mavi, Associate coordinators, made smooth arrangements for conduct of this training.
