3rd Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of KVK, Barnala, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. Inderjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor,GADVASU . Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Extension Education, Co-Chaired the meeting. Dr. Rajbir Singh Director ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I Ludhiana, Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director ICAR- CIPHET, Ludhiana and officer of line Departments and progressive farmers of district Barnala participated in this meeting.
Dr. P. S. Tanwar, Associate, Director, KVK, Barnala presented the achievements of KVK in detail and shared proposed action plan for the year 2021-22. Vice-Chancellor emphasized to promote cost effective technologies related to Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture and Fisheries for the farmers. He said that KVKs are link between research system and farmers. The responsibility of KVK is to cater to the different technologies generated by research institutes and Universities to the farmers and to convey the feedback of the farmers to the research institutes and Universities about the technologies. He also said that backyard poultry farming may be major source of income and nutrition for landless rural poorer and KVK should emphasize promotion of backyard poultry farming by providing 3 weeks old chicks. He emphasized for promotion of diversification in Agriculture and Integrated Farming System for effective use of resources available at farm.
In this meeting Chief Agriculture Officer Barnala, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry, Barnala , Punjab Dairy Development Board Barnala, Department of Horticulture Barnala , DDM NABARD Sangrur, Incharge, FASC Barnala, Soil and Water Conservation Officer, Barnala and progressive farmers gave their valuable suggestions for framing the action plan 2021-22 more effectively. Team visited a buffalo farm of Chief Minister Awardee Dairy farmer Pandit Bheemsen at Village Cheema district Barnala and take feedback and gave valuable suggestions for further improvement and value addition of way-drink.Team also visited at fish cum pig farm of Sh. Gurmel Singh at Village Sekha. District Barnala and impressed about use of wastge of pig farm in fish pond and reducing feeding cost of feed and getting higher income as compare to routine cropping system.
